State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) – IN PERSON PUBLIC HEARING

THURSDAY APRIL 25, 2024, from 11:00AM-2:00PM

The SPIL is a strategic planning document for the state, outlining for the next three years the state’s priorities in supporting people with disabilities’ desire to live independently in the community.  The SPIL guides Pennsylvania’s goals, measurements, resource assignment, and funding, and thus affects the goals, measurements, resource assignments, and use of funding by the seventeen Centers for Independent Living in Pennsylvania. Community Resources for Independence is one of these Centers for Independent Living.

The Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council (PA SILC), in partnership with the network of PA Centers for Independent Living (CILs) and the PA Labor & Industry Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) provide opportunities to hear directly from you about what your life experiences are as Pennsylvanians with disabilities. The State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) uses federal government funding to address independent living needs of people with disabilities based on your input.

It is our responsibility to hear from the people to plan for the development of the SPIL. It is your right as a person with a disability in the Commonwealth to be provided with this opportunity to give input. You will find the draft SPIL for your review by going to our website: https://pasilc.org to review this draft version prior to this date. The hearing location below will have a hard copy in person for viewing if needed that can also be emailed to interested parties.
