Disability Education
Educating people about independent living in Pennsylvania, as well as highlighting news and events affecting people with disabilities, is important to Community Resources for Independence. We want everyone to understand that people with disabilities have rights to equal and full access in our community. Through disability education, people with disabilities can be empowered to make decisions on living independently.
Etiquette
Many of us grew up in a time when we were taught to look away when we saw a person with a disability. Those days are over, and with the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, our society is learning to welcome people with disabilities into the mainstream as productive individuals.
Orientation
Changes that make life more satisfying don’t occur overnight. For people who are willing to work toward greater independence, independent living centers can help put the pieces together.

CRI offers several workshops with educational resources to further your knowledge of what people with disabilities faced in the past and the changes that the Independent Living Movement has made.
